چکیده

New HCCI/CAI Combustion Process Development: Methodology for Determination of Relevant Fuel Parameters — To pass the simultaneous emission requirements for near zero pollutant and low CO2 levels, which are the challenges for future powertrains, many research studies are currently carried out over the world on new engine combustion processes, such as controlled auto-ignition (CAITM) for gasoline engines and homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) for Diesel engines. These new processes have the potential to reduce, by a factor of 10 to 100, NOx (Nitric Oxide emissions) and particulate (PM) emissions in comparison with a typical gasoline or diesel engine. The main issue in the development of such combustion modes remains the limited range of engine speed and load that enable correct engine running, with acceptable levels of NOx and noise emissions. One of the promising Which Fuels for Low-CO2 Engines? Quels carburants pour des moteurs à basses émissions de CO2 ? Do s s i e r Oil & Gas Science and Technology – Rev. IFP, Vol. 59 (2004), No. 6

Controlling the Power Output and Combustion Phasing in an HCCI Engine

In development of Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engines, simultaneous control of combustion phasing and power output has been a major challenge. In this study, a new strategy is developed to control the engine power output and combustion phasing at any desired operating condition. A single zone thermodynamic model coupled to a full kinetic mechanism of Primary Reference Fuels (...

Effect of Hydrogen Addition to Natural Gas on Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Combustion Engines Performance and Emissions Using a Thermodynamic Simulation

The HCCI combustion process is initiated due to auto-ignition of fuel/air mixture which is dominated by chemical kinetics and therefore fuel composition has a significant effect on engine operation and a detailed reaction mechanism is essential to analysis HCCI combustion. A single zone-model permits to have a detailed chemical kinetics modeling for practical fuels. In this study a single-zone ...

Simulation analysis of working conditions with alternative fuels for HCCI Engine

The Internal Combustion (IC) Engine is perhaps the most wide-spread apparatus for transforming liquid and gaseous fuel to useful mechanical work. Homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) is a new combustion technology that may develop as an alternative to diesel engines with high efficiency and low NOx and particulate matter emissions. The homogenous charge compression ignition (HCCI) is ...

Optimal Integral State Feedback Control of HCCI Combustion Timing

Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engines hold promise of high fuel efficiency and low emission levels for future green vehicles. But in contrast to gasoline and diesel engines, HCCI engines suffer from lack of having direct means to initiate combustion. A combustion timing controller with robust tracking performance is the key requirement to leverage HCCI application in production ...
